Mr. Burk'es grand-parent was portuguese. So do I. And I have friends here that knew his wonderfull work since the 60's.

I played bass for Solomon in Boston MA years ago.It was an event for a disabled fireman. He was a true gentleman and a memory I will treasure forever as a musician and a man. He let me and the keyboardist stretch out a little then brought us back with his trademark..." easy, easy". My prayers go out to the Burke family.......

Dear family of Solomon,
I would like to tell you that as a musiclover myself I enyoded the music of this great lovable man, what a message of love he spread through this messed up world! I showed his divd last year to my mother then 90 years old, she got tears in her eyes from this wonderful man. She understood straight away where he came from.
My family wishes you a lot of strenght it must be a shock to miss such a wonderful soul as he is, but he will ALWAYS stay with you all, we wish you strenght, lot of love and peace in your harts, minds en souls.

my sympathies to the Family of Mr. Burke. I am a D.J. in Dallas with a show on Saturday night 6 - Midnight, where I often play his songs on my Saturday Night Sock Hop show.

Solomon Burke was among the unsung heroes who made a huge contribution to the transformation of black music in America, but was never completely appreciated until his later years. His music will live forever, because he sung of truth, pain, joy, and playfulness. He was a giant among mere men, and he will be missed. May God continue to bless you and your family.

When you have a certain age and lost an idol seems right to try to maintain the rate and not tears, but this is not the case, I have to admit that I have skipped a few when I learned of the death of Solomon Burke. I just want from these modest lines to thank who made me sit back and relax, who has made me vibrate and thrill. Please accept my most sincere condoléances.I 16 and I live in France, I'm passionate about the Soul music, the blues and the rock.
He was one of the last king of the music that I hoped see one day on stage, I just learned of his death. I listen to loop the song Hold on Tight by going to my high school in the morning. He gave me the strength to move forward in my life. He was my God and I just lose it .
Even in France I think of you. He has made many people happy with his music as me a young girl from France. May God bless you and bless his music

solomon burke is my legend and everyone's legend ...I adore his music and the man himself. Respectful of his fans, audience and everyone who attends his concerts over the years. I remembered when he came to Canada, it was my birthday and my friend bought tickets for us ...I was in the front row and he called me on stage and sang to me ...I was flored, nervous and in awe, speechless and in the same token, "felt on cloud 10." I'll miss him emensely ... my prayers go out to his family and close friends in grieving the loss of their/our/my King of Soul & Rock & Roll May his soul rest in peace. I'm happy to say that although he left a lump of sadness in my heart, his music will live on in my heart 4-ever -- thats what I'm sure he wants me and you to remember about him, his music, love, affection and respect for his audience.

Since hearing of your dad's death, I've spent much time, these past three days listening to his music and seeing his many performances on YouTUbe.
